Skiing leads to frequent falls, sometimes with relatively serious consequences, particularly concerning the head, back, knees or ankles. It is therefore essential to equip yourself with equipment protecting you from major injuries or traumas.

The adjustment of your ski or snowboard bindings is a safety element not to be neglected. The binding must allow the foot to be held correctly and absorb terrain shocks, but also release the boot when the skier is in a dangerous position. By renting your equipment at Sport 2000, you are assured that your ski or snowboard bindings are correctly adjusted.

Then think about the helmet, which is highly recommended not only for children but also for adults and will prevent or reduce the severity of traumas. You can, of course, rent your ski helmet on our website; several sizes are available in our stores.

Finally, Sport 2000 offers you the rental of a ski safety pack, to rescue and be rescued in case of an avalanche. It includes a shovel, a probe, and an avalanche transceiver.

Rules to respect on the slopes

For everyone to be able to ski calmly and safely, it is good to observe certain rules of conduct on the slopes.

Speed control

Everyone must at all times be able to adapt their speed according to various criteria such as their skiing level, the crowdedness and condition of the slopes, and climatic conditions.

Direction

Skiers located uphill must give priority to those located downhill. Indeed, users uphill of the slope have the possibility to adapt their trajectory according to those who are in their field of vision.

Overtaking

There are no precise rules for overtaking another skier; however, it is important to maintain a certain distance to anticipate any change in trajectory of the person being overtaken.

Crossing slopes

When crossing or starting a slope, one must ensure not to stop in a place that could obstruct other users. Similarly, when engaging at a crossing or start, it is important to ensure not to endanger other skiers on the slope.

Stopping

Whatever the reason, stopping must not occur in the middle of the slopes, nor in narrow passages or areas without visibility. In case of a fall, the user must clear the slope as quickly as possible so as not to put other skiers in difficulty.

Ascending and descending on foot

If one must go up or down the slope on foot, it is imperative to use the edge of the slope, being careful not to pose a danger to other users.

Respecting signs and marking

Indications are present on the slopes to guarantee the safety of all users. Respecting them is therefore essential to avoid any accident.

In case of an accident

Any witness or participant in an accident must assist the victim, first by raising the alarm. They must also declare their identity to emergency services and/or third parties.
