Which ski resorts are near Nice?

Located just 1h30 from the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes, the Auron resort is open to skiers and snowboarders from late November until the first day of May.

Because it is one of the gateways to the Mercantour National Park, at 1600 meters of altitude, Auron/St-Etienne-de-Tinée is a mountain resort particularly appreciated by lovers of mountain landscapes and hikes. In addition, Auron has preserved its authenticity, and it's a pleasure to stroll around during après-ski in theauthentic mountain village which offers bars, restaurants, but also its ice rink, its entertainment, its evenings...

Both a family and authentic resort, Auron will quickly immerse you in its magical world amidst nature dotted with pine and fir trees. The resort offers more than 135 kilometers of slopes and 19 ski lifts, on a ski area divided into 4 sectors: Las Donnas, Sauma Longue, Demandols and Lieuson.

Sport 2000 Tip: if you come for a day or a weekend, we recommend staying near the village of Saint Étienne de Tinée. Its Pinatelle gondola will allow you to access Auron's ski slopes directly without having to drive up to the resort. The car park has 250 spaces and is free, so make the most of it.

One of the favorite resorts of Nice residents is the Isola 2000 resort, which is located only 90 km from Nice. Do you love the mountains and the sea? On a clear day, it is possible to see the sea from the summit of Sistron (2610 meters).

But beyond its view, Isola 2000 is first and foremost a human-scale resort with a rather vast ski area, divided into 3 sectors:

• the Pelevos sector, slopes for beginners (mainly green and blue), but also for freestylers with thesnowpark area ;

• the Saint-Sauveur sector, for experienced skiers who enjoy curves and bumps, on blue, red, and black slopes. Note the possibility, when there is snow, to ski in the woods from January to March;

• the sector of alpine skiing and snowshoeing "Lombarde", which benefits from the best sunshine of the resort, as it is south-facing.

A Nordic area is also available at Isola 2000, allowing activities such as cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, sledding, dog sledding, etc.

Furthermore, don't be surprised to encounter some military remnants on the way, the resort served for some time as a border post with Italy. You can also go to the Italian side to enjoy a snowshoe walk with a view of the resort.

Regarding accommodation, Isola resort consists of a wide range of establishments. You can therefore choose to stay in a hotel, a tourist residence, or an individual chalet in a typical mountain style.

Located just 1h45 from Nice, Valberg is one of the largest mountain resorts in the Southern Alps: 90 kilometers of alpine ski slopes, 23 ski lifts, its Big Air Bag, a snowpark, a family course, and a wide choice of activities. As we can see, Valberg is true to its slogan “the best of the Southern Alps,” for both children and adults.

Valberg is open in winter and summer and offers a wealth of activities throughout the year: bars, restaurants, shops, local services. Note: the village center is reserved for pedestrians and free shuttles circulate in the resort to facilitate movement.
