If you are looking for a bit of adventure or if you have already tried all the slopes of Avoriaz, think about freeriding areas of the skiing area! Several spots allow beginner freeriders as well as seasoned skiers to really have a ball, in condition that they observe the safety rules specific to backcountry skiing.
To learn off-piste skiing, you can go to Snowcross areas of Avoriaz, which are not groomed but secured. If you already have some experiment, you can try La Pointe des Fornets or La Pointe d'Angolon, both offering an amazing panorama. If you have a preference for skiing in the forest, think about La Pointe de l'Au and the forests of Lindarets. And for freeriders who really know how to handle every kind of snow, it is possible to reach La Pointe de Vorlaz after a 30-minute walk.

- Freeride skis, especially designed for deep snows, where you cannot make out any track.
- Freestyle skis: some of them are made to ski in snowparks, but other ones will be perfect to enjoy all-mountain skiing.
- Alpine skis from black or diamond category: even if they are mainly designed for slopes, some of them have wider tips and skates that will allow you to make a detour in powder snow or to have fun along the slopes.
